DIMENSIONS: 300 x 90 x 60mm

MATERIAL: Natureflex 30Mic (Compostable Cellulose)

Product Overview

Pack of 100 or 1000 biodegradable and compostable food-grade bags.

Made in the UK from compostable cellulose (derived from renewable wood pulp) these bags are a more eco-friendly packaging alternative to current polypropylene, PVC bags. Natureflex film has been accredited biodegradable & compostable to 'BS EN 13432' and 'OK Compost'. These bags are also approved for Anaerobic digestion (ISO 15985) & Marine biodegradation ASTM D6691-09. The film has also been tested to ensure that once composted there are no adverse effects on the plant growth.

PLEASE NOTE - in the interest of hygiene we can only accept returns of food grade cellulose bags that have not been opened. Please ensure you order a sample first to decide if the bags are suitable for you.

Shelf Life - Keep dry and below 30°C (ideally between 17-23°C) and away from local heat source or direct sunlight. prolonged exposure to humidity - avoiding excessive heat, moisture and light will maximise shelf life. (If a bag is splashed with water they don't start to degrade immediately. If wiped off straight away they should come to no harm.)

Dimensions are approximate, +/- 5mm.

What is Cellulose?

  • 100% Natural
  • Biodegradable & Compostable
  • Made in the UK
  • Suitable for food use
  • Derived from renewable wood pulp.
  • Heat-sealable
  • Excellent barrier to water vapour, gases and aromas
  • Resistant to oils and greases
  • Receptive to adhesives and tear-tapes
  • Excellent gloss and transparency

Cellulose is a substance from a plants cell wall, this can be extracted from waste plant material to produce the bio film used in these bags. Once used, these bags will biodegrade producing CO2 and H2O, these 2 compounds are combined with sunlight and converted into energy by plants in a process called photosynthesis. The resulting tree growth can then be used to produce more bags.

Although not as tough as petro-chemical based PVC bags our cellulose bags are more robust than our standard biofilm PLA card bags, making them more suitable for food use or bulkier items. Available as plain crimp bags or with a folded bottom for extra volume to accommodate larger products. The cellulose film is coated with a thin 'PVdC' coating making them suitable for food use and for heat sealing. They can be sealed using a normal heat sealer or by using our compostable sealers or stickers.

BIODEGRADATION INFO: Our cellulose bags are fully biodegradable and compostable which means that they break down to CO2, H2O and biomass which can then be reused in the eco system to make new plants. This will happen in either in home or commercial composting but in commercial composting the temperature will be higher and the process is much quicker. In a colder home composter it will just take longer.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY: These bags are primarily intended for food use but we do not guarantee the suitability of these products for any specific purpose. You must conduct your own tests on products before placing orders, to ensure that they are suitable for your requirements. We are happy to supply sample products for you to run your own tests on, before ordering or you can also use our sample service before you place a large order. (All our recycled, renewable and compostable materials are natural products which liable to variation so we advise that all orders should be checked for any variation before using them.)

COMPOSTABLE FILM - CARE & HANDLING: Biofilm is a natural product designed to compost at end of use. However, it is not an exact like for like replacement for Polyprop or PVC. It has different properties in use, and although it has a similar appearance, it is not as forgiving of rough treatment as the petro-chemical bags it replaces. Therefore, to get the best from compostable bags we recommend that they should be kept away from high temperatures and humidity, which along with careful handling and the correct storage will avoid damage to its appearance and maximise shelf life.
